Xeon dual core processor on regular LGA 775 motherboard.? - disadvantages of xeon processor
In thinking of buying a class processor with 775 dual-core Xeon for my home PC. The mother of the servers are very expensive. Can regular socket 775 boards? What are the disadvantages? I just want the extra L2, L3 cache on Xeon processors.

The cache in the Xeon processor is not thinking as before. To explain I would be more than happy with the way the cache works for you, but it says it saves me time to write.

The problem on your side is that you try a game ... I do not want on your computer. The request may require an operand of the CPU, the Xeon is not on the server, because they are determined to exist. They are not designed for the average desktop use. You will receive a blue screen of death or critical system failure, if its function is not processor and an application asks you repeatedly until you have found.

Xeon (5420) vs. Intel Core i7 (920/940)

Personally ... I went with the Intel Core i7. Instead of GigaTransfers MHz
Difference between GigaTransfers / MHz .... MHz is a way GigaTransfers in both directions.
100MHz = 200 m / s (mega transfers)

The new kernel has i7 Socket LGA 1366 and operates on frequencies Speed 4.8GT / s. Intel architecture uses QuickPath Gigatransfers / s.
Easiest way to compare the speeds, so it is not identical Gigatransfers is concern that billions of bilateral transfer. Both ways ... MHz, when the transmission in one direction.
For example, 100MHz = 200 m / s (mega transfers)
4.8GT / s = 2.4 GHz and 2400MHz per second. It is fast enough, because the socket LGA755 transfer between the values - 800 MHz --1600 with the Quad Core Extreme.
No, you have problems with consumer software my proposal for a Quad Q660 Intel LGA 775 and the body of Asus are the best.
