A driver is only for special hardware, no drivers, the device with all hardware.

Contact HP support online and check if an updated driver for the webcam.

What is your friend install the software, turn on the camera and try to use them?

Vista will automatically update the drivers.
For example, my friend with a 98 and a USB printer cable for the latest XP. Both work without problems.

Well, if you still have problems, you can use a driver for the team.
One possibility, go to Start> Control Panel>> Hardware and Sound>> Device Manager. Turn your webcam to make sure that everything is connected so that the device driver webcam should pop up somewhere (like the portable device or imaging device). If you can see, with the right mouse button and click on "Update Driver Software. It can work, but not guaranteed.

Another thing that the workforce is to click Start>> Control Panel>> Hardware and Sound> Scanners and Cameras ">>" Add Device ".
